Introduction
videorc/ui is the component library behind Videorc, the AI-native recording and livestreaming studio. Desktop-sized controls, menus, rows, panes and status bars, built on Base UI and shipped as a shadcn registry.
videorc/ui is where Videorc's interface is designed and kept. Every button, menu, row and pane the desktop app draws starts here, and the app installs it with the same shadcn CLI you use.
It is a shadcn registry: you get the source, in your project, and you own it.
What's inside
| Section | What it is |
|---|---|
| Concepts | The design language: surfaces, glass chips, the three text tiers and the desktop scale |
| Components | shadcn/ui components rebuilt for Videorc on Base UI, plus Videorc's own: segmented controls, shortcut keys, disabled reasons |
| Primitives | The shared building blocks of every Videorc screen: grouped lists and rows, panes and toolbars, status bars, kebab menus, confirm dialogs |
| Hooks and libs | The small pieces the components share: platform glyphs, accelerators, reduced motion |
Principles
- Color is information. The chrome is monochrome. Saturated color appears only in status (live, success, warning, destructive) and in source icons.
- A desktop app, not a page. Controls are desktop-sized (28 px), rows are 32 px, toolbars 40 px. Every primary action has a keyboard shortcut.
- One primitive per job. A list of like things is a
GroupedListofListRows, a confirmation is aConfirmDialog, a shortcut isShortcutKeys. Screens compose primitives; they don't restyle them. - Dark first, light as its twin. Dark is the reference; light is the same structure in porcelain and graphite.
For AI agents
Every component and primitive page has a Copy prompt for AI button, and every page is available as Markdown by appending .md to its URL. llms.txt indexes every page.
